Well, I'm setting aside my Valentine bundle (for a little while at least) and returning to the holiday at hand. I know that lots of you have been looking for and asking for Snow Swirled samples. I was busy over the weekend, stamping and embossing lots of images, and I've now assembled them into cards. Here goes!
I embossed the images on cardstock vellum (you want the heavier weight to withstand the heat) using Craft Whisper White Ink and white embossing powder. When I was ready to use the heat tool to melt the powder, I turned a cookie tray upside down and placed the vellum on the cookie tray. Having the metal underneath retains the heat and helps the powder to melt faster, thus avoiding scorched paper. The powder melted very quickly, and I might try this method the next time I emboss on paper, too!
I learned another vellum tip (yes, the hard way!) when piercing a hole in the center of the images for the brad. I had punched the vellum and the cardstock, lined them up and used my trusty 1/16" handheld punch to pierce a hole for the brads. The vellum slid onto the post(?) of the punch - the little prong that pierces the hole. The vellum slid all the way to the top of this post, and it was hard to slide it off without marring or bending the vellum. After the second incident, I realized it wasn't an accident and reverted to my paper piercing tool and the mat pack! Worked like a charm!
One other thing related to working with vellum - you don't want to use an adhesive, because it will show through the vellum - that's why I used the brads in these cards - that's what's holding the vellum to the cardstock!
I still have more embossed images to play with, and I'm going to share samples from the Stamp a Stack I had last night, so come back tomorrow for more!

These are beautiful. I actually have some cardstock vellum-I think it is new and never opened! Now if I can just find it. . . Thanks for the tip about punching the hole in the vellum. I know I would have done the same thing.
