Today's project, Magnet Tins, features lots of products that are part of Stampin' Up!'s Holiday Extravagana promotion. You can pick up many of the supplies at a discount, but only until Monday, December 1 at 11:50 PM. See the details in this flyer.

Just a quick word about these projects - they are made with Stampin' Up!'s Silver Skinny tins (Holiday Extravaganza item #108333, $1.95 each), which are empty tins that you can decorate. The images that you see have been stamped, colored and run through a Xyron machine with a laminating/magentic cartridge. If you're not familiar with Xyron machines, they are a crafting tool with interchangeable adhesive, laminating or magnetic cartridges. You can run a piece of paper through it and produce a sticker, laminated piece or magnet. They come in different sizes to suit different purposes & budgets. I have the medium sized one which suits my needs just fine. The images shown below are laminated on the front and magnetized on the back - perfect for little fingers!

These tins with magnetized images are such a fun gift for the little ones in our lives! For older children, use the tins and mark a grid with Sticky Strip and ribbon. Helpful Tips for the Curly Label Punch

I'm squeezing in a 'regular' post in the midst of my 12 Days of Christimas projects - hope you're enjoying the fun project ideas! I actually started to draft this post a few days ago, knowing that I'd have to create a few cards and take some pictures along the way. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the Curly Label Punch Bundle is part of Stampin' Up!'s Holiday Extravaganza sale. What great timing! The Curly Label Punch Bundle (#112966) is on sale at a 30% discount until Monday, December 1 at 11:50 PM! Ordering information is at the bottom of this post.

I know that lots of you are looking for ideas with the new set Cute and Curly. This is part of the bundle with the Curly Label Punch. I really like these stamp images, and I love the shape of the punch. The thing about this set is that the image and the punched shape are so small that they can get lost on a card. But they're so cute, you just gotta have 'em! What's a girl to do?

To remedy this size 'problem', I have a couple of different ideas that you can try:

1) The first is to layer the punched image on several successively larger pieces of cardstock and/or designer paper. That's what I did on this card:

 

2) A second alternative is to mount the punched image on the Big Shot Top Note die. This is a really elegant solution, as the Curly Label punch echoes the shape of the Top Note die. This allows you to stamp a larger image on the Top Note and use the Cute and Curly punched image as a sentiment panel. (See picture below)

3) For those of you who like to layer as much as I do, a third alternative is to follow the steps in the post where I showed how to create parenthesis marks from the Curly Label Punch. For this purpose, just make them very thick - enough to allow you to adhere your parenthesis to the back of the punched image. You should punch two from the side and two from the top/bottom for proper proportion. Once punched, use them to frame or mat the punched image. I've found that when adhering these thin strips, Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue works well if you use the end with the thin applicator. Apply the adhesive to the back edge of the punched label image and then attach the punched strip (it's so much easier than trying to get the glue on the back of a thin little strip of paper!).

Snow Swirled Card & Blog Candy

Are you sick of my Snow Swirled cards? I can't seem to put this stamp set down! This card, believe it or not, was inspired my son's bedding. He recently moved from a crib to a big boy bed, and he has this adorable Bear set from Woolrich. It's predominantly tan and brown, but the sheet has burgundy and light blue trim. While I was settling him in the other day, I noticed the sheets and thought "What a nice color combintion!" Of course, I ran downstairs and made this card!

Colors are Baja Breeze, Bravo Burgundy and Very Vanilla. The smallest snowflake image was stamped in Bravo Burgundy and punched with a 1/2" circle punch. Images copyright Stampin' Up!, 1990-2008.

Christmas Cookie or Candy Jar - Decor Elements

Do you need a unique packaging idea for food-related Christmas gifts? Look no further! I found this great square jar at Michael's, and it was the perfect size for one of the holiday-themed Decor Elements. Know what else they have? You know those glass mason jars with the raised writing on the sides? They have those, but they also have a smooth version of these jars intended for crafting purposes! These are ideal containers for baked goods, candy - all sorts of goodies.

To customize the jar, I applied the small sized (3 5/8" x 3") Jingle All the Way Decor Element in Real Red. I used sticky strip to attach Real Red 5/8" grosgrain around the edge of the lid and attached a tiered bow made from some retired satin Chocolate Chip ribbon and the red grosgrain. The tag was made with with the 'Best Yet' Level 1 Hostess set - this is a great all-occasion set! This jar cost me under $10 to make! (Well, excluding the contents!)

BTW - this Jingle all the Way  Decor Element coordinates with a stamp from the set Christmas Classics (111566). You could even make a matching tag if you were so inclined!
